Director: Jen Moser
College: University of South Alabama, George Washington University
Degree: International Studies summa cum laude, Global Communication with a concentration in Public Diplomacy (Masters)
As a cancer survivor, Twila used her Miss Washington County platform “Every Body Has a Story” to encourage young people, especially women, to become advocates for their health and well-being. She was a frequent performer and guest speaker at Relay for Life, National Cancer Survivors’ Day and Making Strides. Twila was honored with a full ride scholarship, French, German and Military History Student of the Year accolades, and had the opportunity to study the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Trade Organization and other international non-governmental organizations under the auspices of the Quaker United Nations Office in Geneva.
She currently serves as the Communications Coordinator at PeaceTech Lab in Washington, D.C. where she works to reduce violent conflict, using technology, media and data to strengthen peace-building efforts around the world. Twila is engaged to a U.S. Marine Corps First Lieutenant. She and her fiancé enjoy swing dancing, singing loudly to Disney or ABBA songs, and arguing over whether to call the interstate “I-5” or “The Five”.
